Ultimate Backup Solution

Category: , , , , , , , Written by Andrew
Many people today have backup solutions like external hard drives. But that keep on forgeting to backup (like me). So i have put together some instructions on how to create a worry-free EASY backup solution.

1. First: Download and install SyncBack

2. Second open SyncBack up and create a new profile

3. When the new profile is open, locate on the bottom the Expert button and click it.

4. You should be in the Simple tab at the top. In there click the second line down: Backup the source directory and all the all subdirectories. BTW you can change these settings around to work for you.

Now you have two options: Backup via FTP or backup via direct connection

FOR FTP PEOPLE,

(NOTE: you must have an FTP server setup. If you don't, then here is how you make one).
Click on the FTP tab and fill out your settings (make sure you check the box: The destination directory is on an FTP Server!)

Then goto Step 5

FOR DIRECT CONNECTION PEOPLE meaning that your plugging the drive directly into your computer.

Plug your drive in.

At the top make your destination wherever you want on the drive.

Goto Step 5

STEP 5

Goto the Misc tab,

Click on Schedule, then Edit Schedule

In the new window goto the Schedule tab

Make it Daily and at Midnight.

Then goto the settings tab and check the last box, Wake computer to run this task.

Then click Ok until your back at the Profile Setup Page.

STEP 6 (the last step!)

Goto the programs tab and type in the run AFTER profile box: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe

Click ok AND YOUR DONE!!!

Just make sure everynight that your FTP server is going or your HDD is plugged in.
Your computer will turn on at midnight and backup whatever folder you selected aand then when its done it'll shut off. Pretty Cool?

Delete Blogs

Category: , , , Written by Andrew
Hi,

In this post i don't want to be mean but there is a major problem. When i tried to make a blog many names were taken up. I was interested in seeing if the person who wrote the blog and i have the same ideas.

Sadly i found that these blogs were empty.

Here are the links

http://tech.blogspot.com/
http://evt.blogspot.com/

Or the blogs were out dated and abandoned

http://hometech.blogspot.com/

Some people like to "test" out blogger. (i did) When they are done they leave the blog empty (i did). PLEASE DELETE THEM!

The way how to, is to login.
Then find the blog you want to delete and click settings.
Scroll to the bottom where you will find Delete the Blog
AND CLICK IT. Your blog will be permanently deleted.

How To Make A FTP Server and why.

Category: , , Written by Andrew
Ever sitting at your computer wishing that you had that file. Its either on a separate computer or somewhere else? Or you have to give a file to a friend but its multi parts or large? Or (lastly) ever wish you had a central storage or SERVER?

Then FTP is just for you.

I am assuming your on a Windows computer. i am running XP.

First download FileZilla Server on the computer that you want to be the "server".
http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=server and install it.

During installation leave everything as the default and at the server screen type 127.0.0.1 for the server and a strong password (aka a password with capitals and numbers.)

Like this

Open up server interface and goto Settings > Users | Click Shared Folder and create some users and passwords and folders they can access.

BAM! Now your server setup!

Now all you have to do is get a client now.

On your client computer download http://filezilla-project.org/download.php

Open FileZilla Client and under host type 127.0.0.1 username type a user you created and then there password. You can leave the port box blank or type 21 and CONNECT.

You should now see folder on the server side.

You are now FTP'ing
